Terms of service

These terms cover this website, the public demo, and buying a commercial license for EZ-Kea from FenleyTech, a sole proprietorship based in Lufkin, Texas, United States. Using the site or buying a license means you accept them.
The software itself is licensed separately, under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 plus the commercial terms below. Where this page and the license text disagree about your rights in the software, the license text governs.
Using the software
Noncommercial use is free
Homelabs, personal networks, hobby projects, learning and experimentation, and use by charities, schools, public research bodies and government institutions are free, with every feature, no lease ceiling, and no time limit. Nothing to buy, nothing to register.
Commercial use needs a license
If EZ-Kea manages DHCP for a business, or somebody is paid to run it, that is commercial use and it needs a paid license. A commercial license costs 500 USD per year and covers a single deployment.
A single deployment means one production EZ-Kea installation, in one environment, operated by one organization. A second production installation needs its own license. Non-production use by the same organization — a lab, a staging environment, a spare box you test upgrades on — is included and does not need a separate license.
Volume licensing
Running EZ-Kea across multiple production deployments, sites,
customers or environments is volume licensing. It is priced per
customer rather than from a list price. Write to
sales@ezkea.com with the number of deployments and we
will quote it.
Evaluation
A free 30-day commercial evaluation key is available on request from
sales@ezkea.com. No card is required. It is the same
build as the paid product, and it expires at the end of the
evaluation period.
How licensing is enforced
It isn't. EZ-Kea never blocks, degrades, or expires any functionality based on licensing. An unlicensed install shows a quiet note in the footer, and past 100 active leases it adds an informational reminder. That is the entire mechanism: no write lock, no grace period, no feature gates, no expiry.
An expired or absent license does not lock you out of your own DHCP configuration. Compliance with these terms is a legal obligation, not something the software imposes on you.
License keys are RSA-2048 signed and verified offline against a public key built into the application. There is no license server and no phone-home. A key encodes a licensee name and an expiry date, and nothing else.
Billing
- A commercial license is 500 USD per year, charged when you subscribe and renewing automatically each year until you cancel.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you are.

You can cancel at any time through the
customer portal
— sign in with the email address on your subscription — or by
writing to
sales@ezkea.com. - Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and partial periods are not refunded. Your license remains valid until it expires.
- If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it keeps failing the subscription ends, and no new key is issued for the next year.
- We may change the price. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you before a renewal at a new price.
Renewals are charged automatically, but a new license key is issued by
email. If a renewal has gone through and you have not received a new
key, write to sales@ezkea.com and we will send it.
The public demo
The demo at demo.ezkea.com is a shared sandbox on
entirely synthetic data. It resets on a schedule, everything in it is
visible to everyone else using it, and it may be unavailable or
changed at any time. Do not put real or confidential data into it, and
do not rely on it for anything. Do not attempt to attack it, overload
it, or use it to reach other systems.

A commercial license pays for the right to use EZ-Kea commercially. It does not come with a support contract or a guaranteed response time. We answer what we can.
No warranty
EZ-Kea is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. This matches the disclaimer in the PolyForm Noncommercial license and applies equally to commercial licenses.
EZ-Kea edits the configuration of a live DHCP server. It backs up before it writes and offers a syntax check, but you remain responsible for your own network. Test your changes and keep your own backups.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, FenleyTech is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or network downtime, arising out of your use of EZ-Kea, this site, or the demo. Our total liability for any claim relating to EZ-Kea will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these exclusions, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change we will update the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing customers will also be sent to the email address on the licensed account. Changes are not retroactive.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
